Due to construction on the new classrooms for Wellington Secondary, there will be a temporary disruption to traffic flow at the front of the building, starting November 10, 2025.
Here is what you need to know:
The paving work is estimated to be completed in 4 weeks.
The work will occur in three phases to avoid a full closure to the entire traffic (see full details below).
This work will involve lane closures and will impact traffic flow.
There will be signage directing entry and exit points.
Phase 1
Duration: 1.5 weeks
Please note that during Phase 1, the far entrance to the drop off lane off of Mexicana Road will be closed. The entrance to drop off during this phase will be the “Exit only” lane off of Mexicana Road. The only exit will be onto Departure Bay Road- right turns only. There are no left turns onto Departure Bay Road. To head East (towards Departure Bay) on Departure Bay Road, you will need to turn Left onto Wassel Way, Left onto Country Club Drive and Left onto Rock City Road before taking a Right turn back on to Departure Bay Road.
Phase 2
Duration: 1.5 weeks
Please note: No front door drop-off. The drop off lane entrance off of Mexican will re-open. Entries and exits will be as they usually are.
Phase 3
Duration: 1 week
During Phase 3, what is traditionally exit only will again (like Phase 1) become entry only. This mean if you enter the traffic and parking in front of the building, you will be forced to exit to the right only (West) onto Departure Bay Road when leaving.
